Evolution Contact Manageris a php clone of the Evolution Contact Editor, built using smak.![]() evolution contact editor |

IntroductionAlso if smak is not released and is in alpha state, this is the first demonstration of its capabilities.Evolution is the well-know gnome mail client. One of its best features is the possibility to use a ldap backend (both in read and write access) to store a sharable addressbook. Ldap is probably the best ever made solution to store personal informations. This is a great solution for a company, but on the other side it has a limit: the shared addressbook can not be accessible from everywhere. For example a smart phone can not access that resource cause of the lack of mobile applications capable to hook a ldap server. Evolution Contact Manager needs only a web browser and a connection to manage addressbook entries. All the modifications performed on the addressbook will be immediately visible. This could help sales representatives working outside the company to keep customer's informations updated in a easy way. |

Features you can find in this live demo: - search a contact. - edit a contact. - insert a contact. - delete a contact. Please be smart, try to use this demo in a meaningful way. Features you can not find in this live demo: - edit ldap settings. I put an image instead of the forum to avoid someone breaks the application. - no duplicate entry allowed (omonimia). It's not allowed to insert the same full name twice. There is a solution for this problem, but Evolution itself is affected by this issue, so we chose to leave it in this way. Features not yet implemented: - picture upload - edit/modify/create categories - edit/modify/create add addresses (this is due to another evolution issue) - localization works well but not all the words are translated. Last but not least, this application was made to test smak capabilities. This was the first need. Many improvement can be done if this application will arise the interest of someone. |
